How much does an alarm upgrade cost?
Basic wired upgrades start from $995, reusing your existing wiring where it is sound. A full reprogram and re-sensor of a very old panel can approach $1,000 in parts and labour – at which point a modern replacement is often the smarter spend. We quote both ways so you can decide.
My alarm still works - why upgrade?
Old sensors false-alarm more, old batteries die, spare parts dry up, and 3G communicators no longer report to monitoring at all. An upgrade restores reliability, adds app control, and makes the system monitorable again.
Can you add app control to my existing alarm?
On many panels yes – a communicator module adds app arming, disarming and notifications. Where the panel is too old, a new panel on your existing wiring gets you there affordably.
Will my old sensors work with a new panel?
Often the wiring is reusable even when the sensors are not. We test what you have and replace only what needs replacing – old PIRs are usually worth swapping for modern pet-friendly ones.
My 3G alarm stopped reporting. Is that fixable?
Yes – the 3G network shutdown killed the communicator, not your alarm. A 4G module (or our $199 reconnection deal including service and battery) has you monitored again in one visit.
Can the upgraded alarm be monitored?
Yes – every system we upgrade can report to our NZ-based 24/7 monitoring centre from $35 + GST/month, month-to-month with no lock-in.
